Chicago Bears: Positions of need: DB, DL, QB, RB
1 Pick 14 Kyle Fuller CB – He has great size and measurables, Kyle also comes from a college that is well known for developing cornerbacks. I like the pick and it is a position of need. Grade B+
2 Pick 51 Ego Furguson DT – He needs a year or two to develop however he has first round talent. I would not be surprised if Ego came out of nowhere to be a force on Chicago’s defense in a season or two and it was another position of need. Grade B
3 Pick 82 Will Sutton DT – This kid was a monster his junior year however he packed on 20 lbs. of bad weight and that hurt his play and draft stock. If the Bears can turn Sutton into his Junior year player they got one heck of a steal here. I like him more than Ego and once again the Bears picked on a need basis but with this pick they also got the best player on the board. Grade A
4 Pick 117 Ka’Deem Carey RB – He was a great college running back but he is very slow for the NFL. He will have to overcome his lack of athleticism to ever make a difference. Another position of need. Grade B
4 Pick 131 Brock Vereen FS – He has NFL bloodlines and good athleticism. Brock has a chance to be a great pick at a position of need for the Bears. Grade B
6 Pick 183 David Fales QB – I do like the kid but he does not have the arm strength to play in this offense and he never will. Grade C+
6 Pick 191 Pat O’Donnell P – Good Punter decent pick. Grade C+
7 Pick 246 Charles Leno Jr. OT – Great value here has a good shot at starting at some point. Grade B
Overall Grade – B+
Detroit Lions: Positions of need: DB, OL, LB
1 Pick 10 Eric Ebron TE – Although he was the best player on the board I am on the fence about this pick. The Lions need defense not another offensive weapon. However Eric is a once every decade type tight end and we could see a lot of three tight end sets in the redzone. Grade A
2 Pick 40 Kyle Van Noy OLB – He has great athleticism and could make an impact early on. This was a position of need and one of the better linebackers in the draft. Grade B
3 Pick 76 Travis Swanson C – A pretty darn good pick in the third round and will at the very least add depth to their offensive line in his first year. Grade B-
4 Pick 133 Nevin Lawson CB – A position of need with a player I do not know much about. Grade C+
4 Pick 136 Larry Webster DE – Larry has good size and will add depth to a position that is getting a little old in Detroit. Grade B
5 Pick 158 Caraun Reid DT – I do not see him sniffing the field anytime soon however a decent developmental prospect. Grade C
6 Pick 189 T.J. Jones WR – I do not care too much for this pick. I have nothing against T.J. but he is not going to become an elite wide receiver and Detroit has plenty of options to stick at the other wide receivers spot. Grade C
7 Pick 229 Nate Freese K – It is never a bad idea to draft a kicker in the last round. Grade B
Green Bay Packers: Positions of need: TE, WR, LB, S
1 Pick 21 Ha Ha Clinton-Dix FS – He has great measurables and speed, he also played at one of the best colleges in the nation. Ha Ha is a big hitter with good ball skills and he should start day one. Grade B+
2 Pick 53 Davante Adams WR – He had unbelievable stats in a pass heavy offense however he did not run as fast as some thought he would. Grade B+
3 Pick 85 Khyri Thorton DT – A DT with a good motor and he should be in the rotation in his first year. Grade B-
3 Pick 98 Richard Rodgers TE – He did not have great stats in a system where he could have done more. There are weight issues with him and better options on the roster. Grade C
4 Pick 121 Carl Bradford OLB – Great pick Bradford did a lot for Arizona State. In a system where he will only have to worry about a few things every play and with a lot of good players around him he should fit in great. Grade B
5 Pick 161 Corey Linsley C – I will not be surprised if Green Bay molds this kid into their Center of the future. Grade B
5 Pick 176 Jared Abbrederis WR – Jared has all the intangibles in the world however he has marginal athleticism. I would not be surprised if he does contribute to the passing game within the next year or two. Grade B
6 Pick 197 Demetri Goodson CB – Demetri is a good value pick here and could contribute on special teams early on. Grade C
7 Pick 236 Jeff Janis WR – I don’t care much for this pick but it is the seventh round. Grade C
Overall Grade A-
Minnesota Vikings: Positions of Need: QB, OL, LB, DB
1 Pick 9 Anthony Barr LB – Anthony is a tremendous athlete with a ton of upside. This was a great pick at a position of need. Grade A
1 Pick 32 Teddy Bridgewater QB – Teddy got dinged pretty bad for his pro day and lack of size during the days leading up to the draft. I think he was the second or third best quarterback in the draft and it was another position of need. Grade B
3 Pick 72 Scott Crichton DE – He has the ideal size for the position and it is another position of need. With him and Barr Minnesota should have a better pass rush. Grade B
3 Pick 96 Jerick McKinnon RB – The Vikings needed to replace Toby Gerhart and Jerick should fill the role pretty well. Grade B-
5 Pick 145 David Yankey OG – At one point he was projected as a 2nd round pick and I still think he was drafted too low. Grade B-
6 Pick 182 Antone Exum CB – He needs a year to get healthy and if he can get 100% Antone might be one of the better picks in the later rounds. Grade B
6 Pick 184 Kendall James CB – With back to back corners selected the Vikings are hoping that one of the two can contribute within the next year or two. Grade B-
7 Pick 220 Shamar Stephens DT- He just might surprise some people and hold onto a roster spot adding depth. Grade C+
7 Pick 223 Brandon Watts OLB – Watts will be given little attention in his first season however he can work hard he may show something in two to three years. Grade C+
7 Pick 225 Jabari Price CB – Another corner taken the Vikings are going with quantity or quality at this position. Grade C
Overall Grade B+
