I wasn’t able to review the Homecoming episode of AEW Dynamite from Daily’s Place. I wanted to post my match and show ratings.
Hangman Adam Page def Claudio Castagnoli - **** ¼
Orange Cassidy, Adam Copeland, Dustin Rhodes & Preston Vance def Brian Cage, Toa Liona, Bishop Kaun & Lance Archer - ***
Samoa Joe promo along with Swerve Strickland, Hangman Page and Hook. This was excellent.
Sammy Guevara def Ricky Starks - *** ½
Big Bill and Chris Jericho got involved after the match.
Willow Nightingale, Kris Statlander, Thunder Rosa & Anna Jay vs. Saraya, Ruby Soho (w/Harley Cameron), Skye Blue & Julia Hart - *** ¼
Roderick Strong (w/Adam Cole, Mike Bennett, Matt Taven, and Wardlow) def Bryan Keith - ** ¾
Adam Cole cut a promo after the match.
Tornado Tag Team Match: Powerhouse Hobbs & Konosuke Takeshita (w/Don Callis) def Sting & Darby Allin (w/Ric Flair) - *** ½
Overall Rating for Dynamite – 8/10
Thoughts on Dynamite – I liked the show a lot. The opening match was by far the best of the night. The main event and Guevara/Starks were fun too. Sammy and Ricky were on the way to a four-star match. The ending was abrupt and not very strong. The eight-man tags were good although a bit repetitive. It was a nice tribute to Brodie Lee and Daily’s Place. I loved the promo with Samoa Joe and his challengers. The AEW World Championship feels hot. One concern I had with the show was the promo from Adam Cole. It was almost the same thing as last week. It was weird they didn’t keep any momentum going with Acclaimed or Bullet Club Gold. I’m not sure the group is going to do very well with their top guy on crutches. Overall, it was a fun night of wrestling that felt like a big deal being back at Daily’s Place!
